A Poem From Dallas

Alexis was great,
but this was just fate

Fourteen and gone,
wow that’s not long

She was my best friend,
there till the end

Yesterday, truth or dare,
today, my worst nightmare

Her life was shortened to this end,
left many broken hearts to mend

She’s in god’s house now,
and we still wonder how

It thought they were mistaken,
but this life was really taken

I shall see her again,
united as friends,
in heaven on high,
way up in the sky

She will never be cold,
as she walks streets of gold

Summer ’03 and ’04,
I couldn’t wish for more

No more going to the pool,
that’s a big drool

Or staying out till ten,
walking around the bends

Even going to the mall,
and tripping down the halls

Also dancing in the rain,
not using our brains

I have all these memories to look back on,
when I finally realize she’s gone
