The Life Of Alexis
Alexis was born on May 31st, 1990 in Panama City, FL. In 1991 she moved to Las Vegas Nevada. 1992 brought her & her family to Valdosta, GA where she became the pride of the Pre-K at Barretts Day Care. She continued to bring smiles and make friends when she went to Pine Grove Elementary School. In 1997 her family moved to Hahira, GA. where she became a member of the 4th & 5th grade Hahira Elementary School Choir. She was a long distance runner on the track team, a member of the safety patrol and active in Girl Scouts. She was in the gifted program and was on the Honor Roll. Alexis loved to play basketball and played with the boys and girls club for 2 years. She was also a Peer Mediator where she helped other kids work out their problems together. Alexis loved to help people. She made the cheerleading squad at Hahira Middle School and continued to be a gifted honor roll student. On to Orlando, Fl where she attended Meadow Woods Middle for her final year in middle school; once again she was in the gifted program and an Honor Roll student. Her final move brought her to Mascotte, FL and South Lake High School. Alexis was again in the gifted program and just a week prior to her illness had made the “Eagles” Cheerleading Squad. Alexis loved cheerleading, singing and dancing. Alexis loved to wear crazy clothing and had a very unique sense of style, her family gave her the nickname “Hippie Chic”. Alexis almost never had a frown and always made people around her laugh and smile. She was always able to see the “Sunny” side of any situation. She loved to get on the computer and chat with her many friends. Alexis became ill with a viral infection around Thanksgiving 2004, which rapidly worsened and she was admitted to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. The infection caused her brain to swell, and ultimately overwhelmed her on December 10, 2004. Alexis was 14 years old. We will never know which virus took Alexis from us, but we do know that it was too soon. Alexis is laid to rest in Panama City, FL at Kent-Forest Lawn Cemetery. She was loved by many friends and both her families that miss her immensely. She is gone but will never be forgotten. We know that she is smiling down when she sees all the love that she has. She sees the poems that people have written, she sees all the kind words in the guestbook, and she sees the times when people just stop and think about her. We know she would not want anyone to be sad that she was gone; she would rather want people to think about the times she made them laugh and smile. Alexis is still in our hearts and minds. This website is dedicated to the memory of our daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece, and friend. With it we hope to keep her memory alive and allow people to share with us and others that she is still in your hearts.
We miss you baby!!
